St Andrews (old course)
St Andrews Golf Resort is located on Scotland’s Golf Coast in Fife and is the oldest and most iconic golf course in the world- known largely for hosting championships such as The Open. Despite the Old Course’s grand status, it remains a public golf course on most days- meaning that members of the public can play on the renowned course. You do however need a handicap certificate to play on the Old Course, so some ability to play is therefore needed. It is always best to book a tee-time in advance, but sometimes it is easy to simply walk on. For any golf course of this calibre, you are looking at green fees of £270 a round in peak season and less in low season. If you choose to play here, expect an authentic experience with spectacular views and photo opportunities.
Gleneagles (Kings Golf Course)
Gleneagles Golf Course is in Auchterarder, Scotland. It opened in 1919 so is extremely historical and a famous course is known worldwide. It is referred to as a ‘masterpiece of golf course design’ due to it being one of the world’s most beautiful and exhilarating places to play golf. During peak season- high rates still apply for a round of golf, looking at up to £270 a round for visitors, however low season is significantly cheaper. Gleneagles is a stunning, mountain setting for a game of golf and is very aesthetic for those who want to capture good golf shots and videos.
Trump Turnberry (Ailsa Course)
The Ailsa Course is an Open Championship Golf Course and possibly one of the most scenic due to its location giving players superb views across to the Mull of Kintyre and the Isle of Arran. Like most other golf courses in Scotland, Turnberry holds immense history as it was established in 1902 and has hosted four Opens. You may recognise the name of this golf course, which is because Donald Trump is the owner of Golf Recreation Scotland, which owns Turnberry. To play on the Ailsa Course, you are looking at up to £425 a player in peak season which makes it one of the more expensive courses to play on.
If you do decide to play at Turnberry, we highly recommend you make it into a golf trip and stay at our nearby Turnberry Holiday Park. It is a very friendly, small park in our ‘Relax and Explore’ collection and is perfectly located in the heart of one of the top golfing destinations in the world. From Turnberry Holiday Park, Trump Turnberry is a mere 6-minute drive away (2.3miles) making it super easy to get to. On-site, Turnberry’s many facilities include a restaurant, bar, adventure playground, shop, heated indoor pool and lots more. With both static caravan holidays and holiday homes for sale, Turnberry offers so many opportunities to make great holiday memories.
Royal Troon (Old Course)
Troon was originally founded many years ago in 1878 and has been an Open Championship venue 8 times and should again be back to host in 2024. Royal Troon Golf Club remains as the only club in Great Britain to be granted Royal status by her late majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Tee times are available Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for £315 per golfer or £365 for a day pass enabling a game on each course.
Again, our nearby holiday park in Turnberry is just a 30-minute drive from this golf course, among many others. It provides a perfect base from which to combine great golf courses with relaxing beaches!
Hopeman Golf Club.
Hopeman was originally a nine-hole course, which was changed to 18 in 1985, which some would say makes it one of the most demanding links courses to play golf in Moray- located in the North of Scotland. Per round, you are looking at £45 which is more affordable than some of the more prestigious courses.
Hopeman Golf Club is an 8-minute drive (2.9miles) from our brilliant Burghead Holiday Park, which gives you so much to do right on your doorstep. Burghead is part of our Relax and Explore collection, set in a peaceful location with direct access to a beautiful, seawater bay, the quaint coastal town of Burghead and the option to walk or cycle the Coastal Trail east towards Hopeman, where you will find the golf course and lots more. Back on-site, although there are no facilities in the park, our pitches are well maintained and have all the space you need to enjoy the great outdoors by either touring caravan or motorhome holiday.
At the same time, if you’re looking to enjoy a little more entertainment alongside your golfing holiday such as going in the pool and enjoying a cooked meal, another great place to stay, is our fantastic neighbouring destination at Silver Sands Holiday Park which is just an 11-minute drive from Burghead Holiday Park- whether you choose to stay there instead or simply use the facilities. Silver Sands is a 5-minute drive (3.6miles) away from Hopeman Golf Club and offers a range of grass and hard-standing gravel pitches that provide an excellent foundation for touring and camping holidays.
