The Umbrella Café

Firstly, you’re going to need a full tummy to kick-start a busy day ahead! The Umbrella Café offers a large variety of delicious food and drinks, including veggie, vegan and gluten-free choices too.

They also have a lovely garden area, and are dog-friendly, so there’s no need to leave your furry friend behind.

Whitstable Castle

First built in the late 1790s, Whitstable Castle was first known as Tankerton Towers and was built as residence for the Pearson Family. In 2010 it had a huge £3m refurbishment, and now provides a gorgeous venue for weddings, events, private parties, and more.

It’s just a five minute walk from the harbour, and entry is free, so you can roam the castle and its grounds at your leisure, taking in the exceptional views.

Boat Trip

Departing from the harbour, there are a few tour operators that provide boat trips almost daily. The most popular cruise takes its passengers out to sea and then west along the coast and to Tankerton Slopes (which in itself is a great afternoon out, if you get the chance).

If you really want to *ahem* push the boat out… why not book a sunset boat trip? This leaves 30 minutes before sunset and allows you to watch the sun setting over Whitstable with a cold glass of prosecco – lovely!

The Old Neptune

Affectionately known as ‘The Neppy’, this seaside favourite is located right on the beach and provides a wonderful selection of local ales, lagers, an extensive wine list, delicious home cooked food, as well as another perfect spot to watch the sun go down. It’s also a live music venue and hosts free music events every weekend from 6pm.

Try The Local Seafood

Whitstable is famous for its oysters (and seafood in general), so, if you’re a lover of seafood then you’re in luck! We’re sure you won’t have trouble finding an oyster in Whitstable as the seafront is full of food carts, stands, and restaurants. A few of the locals’ favourites include Wheelers Oyster Bar, Crab & Winkle, and The Whitstable Oyster Company, perfect for a healthy and nutritious breakfast.

Shop The Independent Stores

Along Whitstable high street you’ll find lots of little quirky independent shops, including antique stores and homeware shops. If you’re into finding unique items or vintage clothes - for bargain prices - then you’ll love the array of charity shops the high street also has to offer.

Almost everything is independent along this row of shops, so you’re sure to find some unusual pieces to take home with you.

Whitstable Harbour

Whitstable has a small working harbour, which is mainly used by fishermen and is also home to a number of great eateries. Take a stroll and watch the world go by as the fishermen set sail, as you tuck into some fresh cockles or some yummy fish and chips!

The Sportsman Pub

This award-winning, Michelin-starred pub is just 5 minutes from our Alberta Holiday Park and 15 minutes from our Seaview Holiday Park. Run by two brothers (one of them being the self-taught head chef and ex-musician), it specialises in serving refreshing beverages and great food in relaxed surroundings.

It’s the perfect spot to finish off a weekend in Whitstable, but make sure you book as it gets booked up quickly!
